    Det är magiskt hur författaren lyckas att få läsaren att le och även skratta högt ibland när han ur ett barns perspektiv återberättar sin miserabla barndom, en barndom med svält och död ständigt närvarande. Frank McCourts geniala humor lyser igenom hela berättelsen.
